Dwellworks Recognized in Top 5 for “Best New Internship” Program
April 26, 2012
Dwellworks was recently recognized in the top 5 “Best New Internships” at the Expys Awards. The Expys, presented by the Northeast Ohio Council on Higher Education and Cleveland Business Connect, is a program that recognizes the best experiential learning programs in Northeast Ohio. The awards are based on the recommendations from an independent panel of judges and the five finalists for this category were judged on their success in terms of internship “orientation, ongoing training and evaluation, quality of work, supervision, and measurable results achieved with the program.”
“Receiving this honor showcases the willingness of our managers and associates to provide college students real-world business experience,” says Shana Zollar, Vice President of Human Resources at Dwellworks. “We feel our interns developed their skills in an encouraging workplace setting and are confident they are prepared for long and successful careers.”
Though the award was given specifically for the program’s success in Dwellworks’ Cleveland office, the internship program also includes interns in the company’s Detroit, Phoenix and Washington D.C. offices. During the summer of 2011, 13 interns were hired to work in all of the company’s business lines as well as marketing, accounting, human resources and IT. Besides their day-to-day activities, the interns participated in a robust program which allowed them to sit in on managerial meetings as well as client calls and visits. Additionally, the interns participated in a variety of charity events and raised funds for national groups such as Make-a-Wish Foundation. As part of the program the interns were asked to research and launch sustainability initiatives for their respective offices which were presented in front of a panel of executive team members. At the conclusion of the program, the Human Resources team worked with the interns to review and revise their resumes, LinkedIn pages and cover letters and they completed an interview skills course.
