5 Tips for Organizing an Open House

Andrew Horvath

Once the renovations to our SRS Apartments in Munich were finished, we knew we had to share with our clients. The thoughtfully restored Neo Baroque building these modern units are in date back to 1902. And, what better way to showcase these high-quality apartments than with an open house?

In our industry, open houses are a unique opportunity to create buzz around the launch of a new product or service. These occasions can be a great way to spread the word about your new property and create influencers from both your colleagues and clients. With so much riding on the event, there are certain elements of planning that shouldn’t be overlooked. Here are five tips the Corporate Housing team at Dwellworks used to plan a successful open house at SRS Apartments.

1. Pick the Right Date

Choosing the right date and time can be the difference between a full house and a few attendees. We planned our event around the 2019 EURA Conference in Munich to maximize attendance. It’s also important to consider holidays and guest schedules, and we’ve found that Thursday evenings work best.

2. Be Specific with Your Guests

Create a guest list and send invitations well in advance. Provide details like the event date, time, contact information, and RSVP instructions. Assign a team member to manage the guest list and ensure clarity on what attendees can expect.

3. Build Momentum

Promoting your event generates excitement. Our Marketing team used social media, blogs, and email reminders with useful information, such as commute options, to keep guests engaged.

4. Create a Welcoming Environment

First impressions matter! Stage the apartment with warm lighting, inviting scents, fresh flowers, and cozy decor. Serve local food and drinks in the kitchen to make guests feel at home.

5. Be an Attentive Host and Follow Up

Arrive early, ensure all details are in place, and welcome guests personally. Facilitate introductions and encourage networking. After the event, follow up with thank-you notes and potential referral incentives.

Our open house was a tremendous success, and we hope these tips help you create an engaging and memorable event for your corporate housing showcase.
