Dwellworks Living - CHPA Furnished Accommodations Carbon Calculation Tool (FACCT)

Dwellworks Living Backs FACCT for Sustainable Corporate Housing

CHPA, the Corporate Housing Providers Association, has launched the Furnished Accommodation Carbon Calculation Tool (FACCT). Dwellworks Living has been a key advocate and sponsor of the development of this game-changing tool for emissions measurement and for progress in corporate housing sustainability. FACCT is accessible at no cost to all providers of furnished accommodation housing. Through the standardized capture of data in a single, agnostic, and science-supported tool, the temporary living industry can make progress in establishing emissions baselines and work towards reductions and a more sustainable future.

Dwellworks Living Joined Industry Leaders to Recognize the Significance of FACCT

On April 29, 2025, Dwellworks Living joined these leaders in a webinar that introduced FACCT to the broader corporate housing industry. We’ve been proud supporters of sustainable progress in corporate housing and in securing the support and funding for the development of this proprietary and fit-for-purpose calculator.

Webinar speakers included:

  • Debbie Woodley, Vice President of Global Supply Chain, Dwellworks Living
  • Jo Layton, CEO, CAP Worldwide Serviced Apartments
  • Eric Ricaurte, Founder & CEO, Greenview
  • Nick Estrada, CEO, CHPA

Debbie Woodley and Jo Layton are the co-chairs of the CHPA Sustainability Task Force (formerly the Sustainability Workgroup). Eric Ricaurte and Greenview are the preeminent developers of tools for reporting, tracking, and analyzing sustainable progress in the hospitality industry. Nick Estrada, CEO at CHPA has guided the project through its key stages, including securing Board approval and support for FACCT as an essential support service for providers of furnished accommodations and an industry differentiator overall.

Noting that the release of FACCT reflects years of coordinated commitment across the industry as well as support for a resource that champions collaboration, not competition, Debbie Woodley reiterated her comments from an earlier Dwellworks Living blog that “non-sustainability is not an option. There is a pressing need for industry standardization for measuring sustainability.”

Dwellworks is on the CHPA Board, Investing Beyond FACCT

Bob Rosing, CCHP, Executive Chairman of Dwellworks joined the CHPA Board of Directors earlier this year for a three-year term. An acknowledged leader in the global mobility industry, Bob has pledged to bring his strategic knowledge to the association for the benefit of individual members and the organization overall. He will be the Board’s Executive Sponsor for the Sustainability Task Force, taking an active role in nurturing the adoption of FACCT among corporate housing operators and aligning CHPA’s sustainability progress with efforts across industry associations. Speaking about the significance of FACCT, Bob noted, “ Dwellworks Living has built our brand on credible information and fact-based analysis in the best interest of our clients, customers, partners, and team. We were excited to be early sponsors and advocates of FACCT for the power of data it brings to sustainable corporate housing, in an accessible and easy-to-adopt tool.”

The Benefits of FACCT for Corporate Housing Providers, Agencies, and Clients

With FACCT, for the first time, a tool is available that offers standardized, agnostic, and industry-standard calculations to provide travel buyers and global mobility managers with the carbon footprint for specific units in a provider’s inventory, or all units rented through aggregated reporting by an agency or administrator. This information can be used to respond to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and to determine the average emissions of each unit’s configuration by type of unit and location for corporate sustainability program reporting.

For agencies, administrators, and clients who manage corporate relocation and business travel, FACCT provides transparency, standardization, and reliability, allowing them to make informed decisions about the carbon footprint of their accommodations and their accommodations spend. As CHPA CEO Nick Estrada noted, “The specific goal is data gathering and reporting; the aspirational goal is establishing benchmarks and reducing carbon emissions in furnished accommodations.”

What’s Next for FACCT and Sustainable Corporate Housing?

The launch of FACCT is a game-changing event for furnished accommodations and greener business travel and workforce mobility. Released in version 1 as an excel spreadsheet to enable faster uptake and supplier participation, the future development of FACCT will be an ongoing iterative process, with several future enhancements planned. These include the development of a web-based entry tool and plug-ins, integration for agencies and software providers, database development for data reporting, benchmarking of data sets for providers and agencies, and data driven decarbonization recommendations.

As the tool continues to evolve and improve, all participants in the corporate housing selection and management process will make smarter sustainable choices. Ultimately, the intention is to align FACCT with other carbon-emissions reporting tools to guide more sustainable business travel and relocation overall.

Dwellworks Living to Offer Sustainable Corporate Housing Choices for Requests for Housing

Beginning in the second half of 2025, Dwellworks Living, will respond to requests for corporate housing by providing our clients and authorized users with updated sustainability information on a per housing request basis. In addition to matching housing options for availability, amenities, proximity, and price, our industry-leading epic® sourcing and partner management system will display a leaf icon for properties that have also met our core criteria for sustainable temporary living as well as an icon that confirms property accessibility for guests of all physical abilities.

Participating in FACCT complements sustainability efforts by Dwellworks and Dwellworks Living that include the publication of our annual ESG Impact Report (available by request at [email protected]), an annual supplier sustainability assessment survey, confirmation of property sustainability features on a per-request-for-housing basis, and participation in our annual ESG updates and compliance training.
