Understanding Leasing Terms in Austria
Even though rent across Austria and particularly Vienna is relatively inexpensive, there are other important things a Dwellworks Consultant can advise an assignee on during the relocation process.
Working with a broker: Properties in Austria are typically listed online for anyone to view. To request a showing, renters work with a broker who is being paid by a landlord to show the property.
Kaltmiete and Warmmiete: This refers to the additional fees added onto the cost of rent. Appropriately named, warmmiete refers to a property charging a rental fee and operating costs like heating, hot water, and other utilities up front. Kaltmiete is a property only charging the rental fee. Using Kaltmiete, you can calculate the price per square meter to compare the difference in rent. These pricing structures make it imperative to check the age of a home to see if the utilities are up-to-date.
